The Art of the Revolution

REVO BR issues call to local artists to donate a portion of sales to African orphanage

The Revolution is upon us. REVO BR, a local non-profit organization centered on raising awareness of worldwide social injustice and seeking local solutions, is issuing a call to artists to make a difference. (view flyer)

In their pursuit to use community support to help those abroad REVO BR has developed a relationship with The Grace of God Orphanage in Malawi, Africa. This facility houses 100 orphans in meager conditions. REVO chapters in Hawaii have been instrumental in funding supplies and an additional building for the orphanage. Other REVO groups in Las Vegas, New York, Nashville and Philadelphia have also worked to assist this grossly neglected area of the world. REVO BR hopes to raise money to afford more amenities for The Grace of God Orphanage among which is additional housing.

To do so REVO BR is organizing an art show simply titled,
REVO, at the Ephemeral Gallery, 512 North 19th Street, May 10, 2008, 8 p.m.
In collaboration with local musicians, graphic designers and visual artists REVO BR will present the best Baton Rouge to offer all while raising social consciousness. Those artists interested in contributing work to the REVO art show need to contact info@revobr.org. Artists can negotiate what portion of the sale they want to donate to REVO as well as expect significant exposure from all over Louisiana to Hawaii. Local artists such as Clark Derbes, ICON Visuals and Elise Toups have already committed to donating work.
